Lean Software Austin is Austin's community of lean software practitioners, exploring topics in software engineering and software management, kanban, the theory of constraints, learning organizations, product design, work design, product management, and systemic, holistic approaches to software product development and production.
Lean Software Austin meetings are chalk talks and discussions facilitated by leaders in the Austin software community with a depth and breadth of experience in software product engineering and development, and who exercise a deep commitment to all aspects of the software craft.
Lean Software Austin is a learning organization. New participants are encouraged to be attentive, and veterans are expected to diligently put the interests of learning and teaching at the forefront. All participants are expected to grow an abiding awareness of and be vigilant against indulgences in tangential biographical narratives and self-promotion that often derail community learning settings.
Meeting leaders are expected to have more than a cursory understanding of Lean Software principles and practices. Participation and questioning is encouraged and expected. Dissent is as welcomed as agreement as long as either are thoughtful and well-considered.
We measure our success by the continued support of the depth of knowledge of the participants, and by their ability to continue to have influence in community and at work through merit, insight, tenacity, and diligence.
Lean Software Austin expects as much from its participants as it's participants expect from Lean Software Austin, with the understanding that internalizing the group's values and expectations will foster the sustainable growth of meritorious software development community and practice.
